PALESA
Palesa means flower in Sesotho. It is a popular African name and symbolizes the mothers of the nation, who are the pillars of strength, the social glue, the country's consciousness, the ones who make a difference. Through Fairtrade, Palesa wines want to make a difference in the farming communities that work in the farms Daschbosch and Groot Eiland, situated in Rawsonville, Western Cape. The farms produce Fairtrade certified wine grapes since 2008 and Palesa wines are traded by the uniWines Group.

The sales of Palesa Fairtrade wines have supported various projects dedicated to farm workers and their communities. Amongst them:

  • 6 play parks on the farms for farm workers' chidren
  • Soccer equipment/kit for farm workers
  • Netball equipment/kit for farm workers
  • Creche for the children of the community and all their school materials
