TUKULU
Tukulu is a wine brand that was born from a BEE joint venture between the Distell Group, a consortium of black entrepreneurs and a trust representing the local Groenekloof community. Tukulu Fairtrade wines are produced in Darling, Western Cape, at the Papkuilsfontein farm, which became Fairtrade accredited in 2009. The farm size is 300 hectares, 20% of which used for the production of the Fairtrade Tukulu wine grapes. Besides being Fairtrade, Tukulu is also organic.
Papkuilsfontein was recently certified with Fairtrade, therefore Tukulu has not yet generated a Fairtrade Premium that farm workers and the community can use for needed social projects.
