FAIRTRADE SALES IN SA INCREASE FOURFOLD IN 2011 AND REACH STAGGERING R 73 MILLION
08.05.2012 - We are proud to announce that in 2011 we have increased our local sales of Fairtrade products fourfold and reached a staggering ZAR 73 million.
Wine and coffee remain the leading sales categories: in 2011 South Africans drank 255,593 bottles of Fairtrade wine and 45,220 Kg of Fairtrade coffee.
This steep increase from ZAR 18,4 million achieved in 2010 can be attributed to both the increased awareness of Fairtrade in South Africa and the growth in the number of products available in local stores, coffee shops and restaurants.
We express our gratitude to all the companies that are supporting the growth of Fairtrade in South Africa by producing, distributing and selling Fairtrade products; and of course, we extend a warm thank you to all South Africans that choose Fairtrade products in their daily shopping!
