PRODUCT LAUNCH: 3 DELICIOUS NEW DE BOS HANDCRAFTED WINES

28.02.2013 - Following a prestigious win in the UK last year, South Africa’s premier Fairtrade wine producer, Bosman Family Vineyards, added three additional wines to its De Bos Handpicked Vineyards range. The intimate launch was held at the trendy city centre restaurant 95 Keurom in Bree Street, Cape Town during FAIRTRADE WEEK 2013.

Only the best fruit from vineyards in the exciting wine regions of Hermon, Walker Bay and Wellington are selected for the making of these wines,” says winemaker Corlea Fourie.

The De Bos wines are handcrafted from vine to wine, while a model empowerment initiative between the eighth-generation Bosman family and the Adama Appollo Workers Trust acknowledges the long-standing relationship with workers on the farm.

Our philosophy is simple: if you care about the people that do the work, the people care about the work they do,” says Bosman Family Vineyards managing director Petrus Bosman. “The same can be said about the way we respect and care for our environment. The De Bos range of wines is an extension of this vision" states Petrus Bosman, Managing Director of Bosman Family Vineyard.

Three New Additions:
  • Walker Bay Chardonnay 2012
  • Walker Bay Pinot Noir 2012
  • Handpicked Merlot 2012

The Current Range:
  • Handpicked Chenin Blanc 2012,
  • Walker Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2012,
  • Handpicked Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 (which scored 91 out of 100 in Decanter magazine’s February 2013 “50 New World reds under £15”).

The wine that took the Fairtrade Trophy in September last year at the International Wine Challenge – one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive blind wine-tasting competitions - was the 2011 Wild Valley Chenin Blanc from the premium Fairtrade range of Sainsbury's, Taste The Difference, made from the Bosman Fairtrade Chenin Blanc Vineyards from the Wellington wine region. It was the only South African wine to win a trophy.

The De Bos wines are available across South Africa from leading retailers and restaurants.
